Lower profits are being forecasted by Tourism Promotion Services which runs the Serena Hotels, for the first half of the year
to June 2008.
The Forecast is due to the massive cancellations between January and February due to the large numbers of hotel cancellations.
The managing director of TPS EA, Mr Mahmud Jan Mohamed said that the present occupancy rates are the lowest recorded by the industry in the past five years.
In a statement issued by Mr Mohamed, Serena is confident of the resilience of the sector and this could change the company’s fortunes in the second half of the year.
