Western Region Beauties were hosted at Mountains of the moon hotel, during the Miss Uganda western region Selection.
The Pageant, sponsored by Uganda telecom drew contestants from Fort Portal, Mbarara, Hoima, Mubende and Masaka, saw crowd favourite Diana Alinaffe, also contestant number one as the winner, Beatrice Nantongo, a 19-year-old S6 leaver from Masaka and Belinda Kisakye, a 20, Social Development student from Gombe as first and second runners-up respectively.
The guests were entertained by Maisha Dancers,Romeo Akiiki, singers Bella, Moses Araali Kigambo and General Mega Dee,and there was also a group dance to introduce the contestants, a creative wear showcase in which the girls’ aptitude was also tested and an evening wear finale to announce the top three.

Janet Museveni, the First Lady and Ruhama county Member of Parliament toured Protea Hotel at Bwebajja on the Kampala-Entebbe Highway recently.
It took the First Lady three hours to tour the $100m investment, built on a 160-acres of land. The Hotel, owned by Joseph and Goodra Behakanira, the owners of Avemer Shopping Centre on Luwum Street, Kampala has 24 presidential suites, cottages, a 10,000-capacity-seating conference hall, a business centre, a huge shopping mall, and an airfield.
The hotel was contracted to Protea Hotels a South African based firm to manage the hotel.

Coin operated condom and sanitary pads dispenser machines have so-far been fitted in Hotels like Hotel Africana, Capital pub, Punchline Bar and Cherries in Kabalagala, Sax pub in the city centre, club Silk and Ange-Noir discotheque in industrial area and will be distributed in more hotels, universities and other popular places around town, as well as sanitary machines will be installed in schools.
The condom and sanitary pads dispenser machines can accommodate 64 packs of condoms and 38 sanitary towels at any one time, and do not require electricity to run and are therefore user-friendly to those living in areas that suffer load shedding. They are mechanically operated with reliable metal cabinets that run on alkaline batteries.
This is in the wake of the need to find preventive solutions to the HIV/Aids scourge.For Shs500, one will be able to access a pack of condoms.

Hotel Equatorial has sponsored the Cervical Cancer Screening organised by Mama Tendo Foundation.
The Hotel has given the foundation a room where wthey can carry out Obstetrician and Gynaecologist activities and ensure that individual privacy is observed.
MAMA Tendo Foundation in partnership with the Uganda Women Health Initiative and Association of Obstetrician and Gynaecologist of Uganda has organised free cervical cancer screening and a free breast clinic to all female participants of the Mama Tendo Seminar on May 12.
There will be a seminar on parenting, mother’s health and beauty and will also address issues such as child-spacing, weight loss and exercise, hair, nail and skin care. The screening and maternal health clinic will be done by a team of five senior gynecologists from the Association of obstetrician and Gynecologist of Uganda (AOGU).

The group of 10 including two journalists and Russian tour operators who recently visited Uganda, were reportedly impressed by Kampala Serena Hotel and Ndali Lodge in Fort Portal, western Uganda.
The visitors advised that for the country to tap the lucrative upmarket and big spending tourists from Europe, local facilities and infrastructure like roads. They also advised that Uganda should maintain her presence in Russia by attending the two main International tourism exhibitions, in March and September each year.
The guest’s favourite products were sport fishing, wild life, boat cruises on the Victoria Nile in Murchison Falls and Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park, adventure sports such as white water rafting, mountain biking and quad biking, culture and the history of Uganda.The tour operators who left on April 22 and are now expected to sell Uganda as a destination of choice say overall, the country is a great place to visit.
