HOTEL LAND ALLOCATION TO INVESTORS

Two mo re acres of land have been allocated to Khadar Investment for construction of a 150 room five-star hotel worth $18m (sh36b).

Kampala City Council (KCC) allocated the land located along Yusuf Lule road in Kampala, for the construction of Oasis Hotel, which will have facilities including a entertainment center, coffee bar, a supermarket and three presidential suites.

The Hotel is targeting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and its completion will be by July 2007.

BWEBAJJA HOTEL TO BE MANAGED BY PROTEA FIRM

Bwebajja hotel which will be managed by Protea Hotels Management of South Africa for 15 years will adopt a new name, Protea Hotel Entebbe (U).
The $100m (sh176b) hotel is located on Kampala-Entebbe highway and will be completed by September.

A memorandum of understanding between Joseph Behakanira, the chairman of Avemar Group, and Stuart Cook, the Protea director of operations was signed on March 2.
The hotel which covers 162 acres, has 24 presidential suites, 300 rooms and 30 cottages.The hotel will also have an airfield, a shopping mall, three conference halls, one of which shall have a 10,000 sitting capacity.

Protea Corporation is Africa’s largest and leading hotel management company.
