The government will pay for the Hotel staff training ahead of the commonwealth heads of government meeting, due to take place in November 2007.
Training clinics will be set up by government, which has promised to pay for the costs involved in order to ensure that the guests get prompt and efficient service from hotel staff during the commonwealth period.
The training will be done with the help of Uganda Hotel Owners’ Association (UHOA) and it will cover three weeks of intensive training at the hotels to train specialist staff including departments like the front desk, food and beverage production (i.e bar and restaurant), accounting and public relations, laundry, security, maintenance and house-keeping.
Recruits to be trained will come from existing hotels and restaurants and while others will be recruits from school like the Hotel Tourism Training Institute (HTTI).
