HOTELS TO HOST CHOGM ADVISED ON STANDARDS

Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) Hotels have been warned on standards, with advise to conform to standards.

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), has been appointed by government to take up the responsibility of auditing and certifying the Chogm hotels, and Only those hotels which will be cleared by UNBS will be allowed to accommodate delegates.

A number of hotels and accommodation facilities are under construction and renovation, inorder to be ready for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) due in November.

COMMON HOTEL GRADING SYSTEM FOR CHOGM

The grading of hotels in Uganda will be done by a common grading system ahead of the Commonwealth meeting this year.

Five stars will be given to the hotels of the highest grade and one star to the lowest. State minister for tourism, trade and antiquities Serapio Rukundo said that the system has been developed by eminent experts, and its based on the international standards.

HOTELS DISPLAY FIREWORKS ON NEWYEAR

A dazzling display of double fireworks went off to usher in the new year at several Hotels in Uganda.

There was a simultaneous display of Fireworks at the Serena Kampala Hotel and Kampala Sheraton Hotel on New Year eve, which drew cheers from spectators.
In Mbarara Town, there was fireworks at the Lake View Resort Hotel and at the Vision Empire Discotheque in the town centre.

The New year was celebrated by Hodes of spectators who partied till dawn at different locations in the city and its suburbs, to clebrate the Newyear.
