The Hotel grading exercise will continue after the Common wealth heads of Government meeting (CHOGM)

Routine grading of Hotels will be carried out every 2 years by the ministry of tourism,in a bid to ensure that high standards are maintained even after the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) due in 2007.

Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso have been gazzeted by Government as CHOGM zone areas to host the over 5,000 delegates, expected to attend the summit the summit.

A team of experts, led by Vice-President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, inspected hotels and facilities that will be used for the commonwealth Heads of government meeting (CHOGM).

The team which included senior government officials visited the state house and Serena Hotel that will host the opening meeting of CHOGM next year and were facinated.

The first phase of State House which includes the presidential dais, giant two-floor ceremonial building (with the banquet hall, a Cabinet room, bedrooms conference hall, laundry and credentials room) parade ground, a gazebo (outside meeting room) a communications block and new road worksis expected to be completed by June 30, 2007.
