HOTEL INVESTORS PRAISED

The role of the private sector has been praised by President Yoweri Museveni.
The President praised the role of the investors in provision of services like employment opportunities to a large group of Ugandans, therefore reducing unemployment and transforming the economy.

He said that East Africa needs investors to transform the Economy to an industrialised middle class society, and therefore investors should be encouraged and not discouraged by government technocrats.

HOTEL INDUSTRY APPLAUDED BY PRESIDENT

The Hotel Industry has been hailed by President Yoweri Museveni, for creating employment opportunities.

President Museveni opened a two-day conference at Speke Resort, Munyonyo on Friday. The conference with the theme “Law, Business and Human Rights” is by the East African Law Society.

Hotels have directly benefited Ugandans through employment opportunities to about 2000 young Ugandans in the hotel industry, and the President praised Sudhir Ruparelia as an Investor who owns a chain of hotels in Kampala.

NEW HOTEL AT SUDAN-UGANDA BOARDER

Construction of a new Hotel at the Sudan-Uganda boarder is on-going in the border town of Kaya.

The modern Hotel which is expected to be commissioned next month is located in the southern Sudanese province is going to be the firt of its kind among numerous grass-thatched houses. The Hotel will include 15 rooms.These will be self-contained, and the hotel will include facilities and services like steam bath,24-hour shuttle from the Arua Airfield to the hotel, two well-stocked bars, Internet café and a sauna.

Materials for the construction are being imported from Kampala.

SUDHIR TO BUILD 5 STAR HOTEL

Sudhir Ruparelia is to construct a five-star hotel and a multi-storey modern supermarket.
The city property mogul acquired a prime 15-acre land in Kampala, which was leased to him by the Government. The land which belongs to the Chieftancy of Military Intelligence (CMI) is located at the junction of Kira and Yusuf Lule roads.

The Land was alocated to sudhir as a compensation for revoking his lease for the land on
Nile Avenue for which he had paid sh300m as premium. The land that belonged to Shimoni Demonstration School was instead offered the 14.5 acres to Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Alsaud to build a five-star hotel.

Sudir will however build a new CMI headquarters on a land which will be identified to him by the Ministry of Defence after talks about the relocation.

HOTELS ENABLE PAM AWARDS GROWTH

As the Pearl of Africa Music (PAM) Awards’ draw nearer, hotels have played an essential part in the growth of events, which have come to include Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda.

Hotels in all regions of the country have contributed in the awards through hosting launch parties. Crested Crane Hotel Jinja hosted the eastern launch held on June 3 which exhibited outstanding talent, Mbale Resort Hotel’s garden was also a venue as peple travelled from as far away as Karamoja, and Lira Hotel hopsted the PAM award launch in Lira on June 24.

The PAM Awards will be held on Saturday, the 28 of October at the Lugogo Cricket oval, and this will be the fourth edition of the awards.
