Indigenous cultural elements. likeUganda’s flora, fauna, unique topographic features and history will be the incentive for design themes for the new hotel.

Like other Serena properties around the world, the Kampala Serena will resonate and embody local artisanal traditions. Serena Hotels operate 22 hotels, resorts and safari lodges in Kenya, Tanzania (including Zanzibar), Mozambique, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan

Prince Amyn Aga Khan, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED) asserted the anticipation that “this initiative will promote tourism development throughout Uganda and act as a stimulus to other investors in this sector.”He also said that when the new hotel reopens, it will have a new notion of comfort, design and style, will create employment opportunities, and will also urge tourism investments.

Uganda’s Minister of State for Privatization Prof. Peter Kasenene, said that “the industry needs the onset from actors like Serena who have a further vision for the sector, and as such, the finalization of the settlement does achieve our broader objective of strengthening the tourism industry.”
