There are plans by East African countries of Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania to join the common market for East and Southern Africa as a single East African state.
This was revealed Mr. Denis Manana during the 10th annual seminar of Institute of Certified Public Accounts of Uganda at Imperial Resort Beach Hotel in Entebbe, one of Uganda hotels.
Uganda and Kenya members of COMESA, and Tanzania a member of SADCA
Will all have to disengage from their current membership in the organizations.
Having different regional trade blocs has been said to hamper trade development within East Africa, through terms of free movement of goods a people, labour, services and capital, thus hindering development.
The measure will enhance international markets and relationships, monetary integration, focus on measures that urge growth of the productive sectors and development of supply in industry, agriculture, natural resources, infrastructure and tourism in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
